Zora Neale Hurston: Exploring Her Time in Beaufort

Join us for a special screening and conversation exploring the legacy of Zora Neale Hurston—writer, anthropologist, and cultural trailblazer—hosted in partnership with Trelani Michelle of Krak Teet.

This event will feature rare footage filmed by Hurston herself during her time in Beaufort, SC, capturing moments of worship and everyday life in the Gullah Geechee community.

Together, we’ll reflect on Zora’s fearless pursuit of Black truth, memory, and cultural documentation—and the lasting impact of her time in the Lowcountry.
